The brief

VMEP makes bespoke motorsport flight cases and resells parts to race teams, prep shops, and club racers. They had run their shop on Wix since 2017, but Wix announced it was retiring the system they were built on. They needed to move the whole business to a new platform without losing their Google rankings, without interrupting sales during the switch, and without starting from scratch on their customer records and email history.

What we did

  • A full custom Shopify store with around 500 products across 61 categories, rebuilt and reorganised from the Wix export
  • Zero-downtime migration: every old Wix page address redirected to the correct new Shopify URL so Google rankings and existing traffic were protected
  • Six branded company email addresses set up on the domain, with years of existing mail carried across
  • Five automated email journeys: new subscriber welcome, abandoned basket recovery, post-purchase follow-up, and payment reminders
  • A VAT price toggle on product pages so trade buyers can switch between prices with and without VAT
  • Custom rebuilt contact page, full shipping policy, and a returns policy written to the legal minimum only
  • Google Shopping and Google Ads connected to the catalogue, plus Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity for visitor data and session recording
  • Slide-out basket so customers can add items and keep browsing without leaving the page

What we said no to

  • Order and delivery emails going through Klaviyo. Shopify's own transactional emails handle those so receipts always arrive from the trusted sender. Shopify's competing abandoned-basket email was switched off so it could not clash with the new automation.
  • Padding out the returns and warranty pages. Both are written to the legal minimum only, not to promises the business had not agreed to.
  • Advertising to every country via Google Shopping. The feed is limited to the UK so budget is not wasted on markets VMEP does not ship to.
  • Carrying over a misleading international shipping claim from the old Wix site. Removed.

Common questions

  • Every old Wix page address is redirected to the matching new Shopify URL, so the search rankings and traffic a shop has already earned carry straight across. For VMEP we rebuilt around 500 products across 61 categories from the Wix export and moved the whole store with zero downtime, without missing a single sale during the switch.

  • No. We build and test the full store first, then point the domain at it, so the shop keeps trading the whole way through. VMEP moved off Wix with no gap in sales.

  • They move with you. We set up six branded company mailboxes on VMEP's domain and carried years of existing mail across, so nothing was lost when they left Wix.

  • Yes. We built a VAT toggle into VMEP's product pages so trade buyers can switch between prices with and without VAT in one click, which matters when you sell to both race teams and individual customers.

  • Yes. We connected VMEP's catalogue to Google Merchant Center and Google Ads, limited to the UK where they ship, alongside Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity for visitor data. The Google Ads returned 6.25x on ad spend after the move, with monthly sales running between £14k and £29k across the following 14 months.
