Then the ongoing: tracking who gets named for your buyers' questions, adding pages where a rival still wins, and correcting anything an AI tool gets wrong.

The setup is where most of the value sits, and it's quick. The ongoing should be light and measured against a baseline, not a long retainer that starts before anyone has looked at your site.

5. What do I keep if I stop?

Red flags

• A guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend you. AI answers change from one conversation to the next; nobody can promise one.
• "AI SEO" that turns out to be dozens of generated blog posts.
• Reports with no starting point to compare against.
• A long contract before anything has been measured.

Can you do it yourself?
