How to get your business recommended by ChatGPT.

A stylised AI shortlist card with one business highlighted first, on a dark background with a red glow

To get recommended by ChatGPT, make your site readable without JavaScript, publish the specific facts it needs to recommend you, answer the questions buyers ask, put yourself next to the businesses it already names, get those facts repeated elsewhere, and then track what it says. Here is each step.

1. Be readable

ChatGPT's crawlers read the HTML your server sends and don't run JavaScript. If your pages are assembled in the browser, they get a blank page. Make sure your content is in the HTML, that robots.txt lets GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User in, and that your firewall isn't refusing them. Our free ChatGPT view checks all three.

2. Publish facts, not adjectives

AI answers are built from specifics. Publish your prices, your terms, where you work, how long things take and what you've achieved, with numbers. Put the same facts in an llms.txt and label them with structured data. A business that says "from £299" gets quoted; one that says "competitive pricing" doesn't.

3. Answer the buying questions

List the questions people ask before they choose a business like yours: what it costs, how to compare options, what to watch out for, how long it takes. Write a page for each, answering in the opening lines. These are the questions people now type into ChatGPT.

4. Get into the comparisons

Ask ChatGPT for the best businesses in your category and note who it names. Then publish honest comparisons with them. When someone asks about a business ChatGPT already trusts, your comparison page puts you in the same answer.

5. Get corroborated

AI tools weigh what other sites say about you. Make sure the same name, description and facts appear on your Google Business Profile, the directories in your industry, and the lists and articles that rank for your category.

6. Track it

Pick 20 questions your buyers ask. Ask them logged out, in ChatGPT and the other AI tools, on a fixed day each week, and record who gets named. That baseline is the only way to know whether anything you change works. We explain the method in how to check what ChatGPT says about your business.

What this looks like in practice

We built Sable Management this way from day one: 33 server-rendered pages, its prices and terms published, 14 guides on the questions creators ask, and 5 comparisons with the agencies ChatGPT already recommended. Four days after launch, asked for the best OnlyFans agencies in the UK, ChatGPT listed Sable first.

What doesn't work

Pages of AI-generated filler, keyword stuffing, fake reviews and anything sold as a "ChatGPT hack". AI answers reward the business that is easiest to verify, not the one that shouts loudest.

Our GEO Launch does steps one to four in 48 hours and spends the next 90 days on five and six.

COMMON QUESTIONS

  • You can't buy a place in ChatGPT's own recommendations. What it names comes from what it can read and trust, which is why readable pages, published facts and corroboration from other sites matter.

  • It can take days if the basics are right: Sable Management was named first four days after launch. Building visibility across many questions takes longer; VMEP went from about 2% to 30% over three months.

  • Yes. Local questions ('best roofer in Stratford-upon-Avon') follow the same rules: readable pages, published prices and service areas, a complete Google Business Profile and consistent details across local directories.
